Jimbaran Bay is a Romantic Sunset Beach for Dinner
Long time ago before become a tourism destination, actually Jimbaran Beach is known as a fishing village and a place of traditional salt-making process , even Pindang (sour and spicy fish) produced in this village were very famous all over Bali. The villager sold their Pindangs and Salt at Pasar Badung traditional market and delivered to all parts of Bali. But now the white sand Jimbaran beach is very famous in the world, maybe even get to the moon, lol. At the northern part of the beach could be seen a traditional fish market and great number of anchoring traditional fishing boats (Jukung), proved that some of the people here still working as fisherman.
Here along the coast of Jimbaran bay there are lays 15 or more sea food restaurants which presented each of own characteristic menu. Every day, as the sun sinks lower, the staff set up hundreds of tables down towards the water’s edge, very quick these tables are filled by tourists and locals alike. The dress code and the atmosphere are casual, sitting around wide open beach and it becomes more romantic at sunset onwards. At these places you get to select your own meal from an array of different fish, squid, octopus, crabs, squid, lobster, etc. All the seafood is absolutely the best and fresh, caught that day by the local fishermen and absolutely yummmmmy. The meals are served (except special order) with rice, veggies, and a variety of spicy sauces or sambel matah (special Balinese sauces), The evening when we were there, it was Marcus’s birthdays (our customer) we were five persons of us. I loved the squids, water spinach and hot sambel matah sauce, oh very delicious. Not long when our bellies were full, the staff prepared a cake for Marcus and we all sang happy birthday as they placed it in front of him. A local band musician came along and sang some songs for us. While drinking some cold Bintang beers, we were enjoying the Balinese traditional dance called Joged Bungbung, this dance is a friendship dance, audience may dance with the dancers. We had a great time, Marcus’s family loved it very much.
